What is Sound Therapy?

therepeutic sound + reflection and enquiry =  potential for wholeness

Sound Therapy is the therapeutic application of sound frequencies to the body/mind of a person with the intention of bringing them into a state of harmony and health.  Sound therapy can be used with groups and individuals for relaxation, insights, creativity, and physical enhancement, mental and emotional release.  In a sound therapy treatment we play a combination of ancient and modern instruments to gently bathe the body at a cellular level.

Everything Vibrates

Modern science now supports the ancient belief that all matter comes from vibration or sound.  Everything that exists in the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual realms does so on a vibratory basis, and with vibration comes sound.  Sound travels in waves through the air, the ground, water and various other substances.  These waves are called frequencies which are measured by Hertz. Because our bodies are made up of     60-70% water the sound waves travels effortlessly through the body as well as the ear.  Pythagoras said that “each celestial body, in fact each and every atom, produces a particular sound on account of its movement, its rhythm or vibration.  All these sounds and vibrations form a universal harmony.”

Bringing our Body, Mind and Emotions into Harmony

Every organ, every bone, every cell in the body has its own resonant frequency. Together they make up a composite frequency. When the body/ mind/emotions are not in harmony, or resonance, we feel a dis-harmony or dis-ease.  With the use of sympathetic resonance or ‘entrainment’ we can bring the body back to the frequency that it works best in.  The various sound instruments work with each other to achieve this.  We also the use specific frequencies to help with individual needs, for instance, fertility issues, chronic pain, cancer, stress-related illnesses, IBS, ME, tinnitus, mild depression, anxiety, arthritis and so much more.  Even if you consider yourself to be in the best of health, regular treatment could strengthen the system and therefore help prevent future illness and disease. Sound therapy not only helps with physical illness, it can also help balance the emotions and quieten a busy mind. Sound could also help you to reach your fullest potential and many people have enhanced their lives by working with our techniques.

I am qualified and experienced in holding Sound Therapy sessions for groups and individuals for Relaxation or Therapy.
